34 years ago today, Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone were assassinated at City Hall. This evening, join a rememberance and vigil in recognition of their lives and contributions to the city.
The event begins on the steps of City Hall at 4:30pm, with many city officials as well as members of Moscone and Milk’s families expected to attend. There will be remarks by Milk’s nephew Stuart, and a performance by the Gay Men’s Chorus. This will be followed at 5:30pm by a candlelight march to the Castro, concluding at Milk’s old camera shop at 575 Castro Street.
At 6:45pm, there will be a separate vigil at Harvey Milk Plaza in the Castro, with speakers including Supervisors David Campos and Christina Olague, activist Cyd Nova, and Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club President Anna Conda. This will also conclude with a march to Milk’s camera shop, with music provided by the Brass Liberation Orchestra.
