Look what keeps getting better.
It’s been a little bit since we walked along this block of Market Street. So we were excited to find this new part completed as we were traversing from the Van Ness Muni station toward Octavia.
Not only have several more cartoonish characters been added from the first time we saw this, but the entire panel facing Franklin now shows a person hunched over next to a brick wall with eyes watching him/her.
What’s equally intriguing is that additions keep getting made even though the building will get razed soon for six stories of housing and retail. Perhaps the hunched over person represents the current building hiding from it’s new set of bricks and rebar?
(This is also why the 6 and 71 are no longer stopping at that intersection)
Knowing that it won’t be there for too much longer, does it seem strange to keep creating art on a space that will get torn down soon… or do you love that its impending future isn’t limiting us from making it creative and fun while it’s still around?
