The only thing constant in life is… construction on Market Street?
There are a lot of changes taking place on Market Street, both in our neighborhood and just a few blocks outside of it.
For those of you who live on Buchanan or near The Mint, you’ve walked by 1960 Market and seen construction workers gearing up for excavation.
And that brings us to 8 Octavia.
If you exit the Central Expressway and head north, 8 Octavia is the first parcel of land on your right that’s currently fenced off (as seen in the picture above).
According to CurbedSF, the Stanley Saitowitz/Natoma Architects design will comprise “8 stories with 49 units, ground floor retail, and 24 off-street residential parking spaces.”
The design has been in the works since 2007 and the Conditional Use Application is actually up for final approval today. Here’s what the glass-encased buildings will look like:
What do you think of the design? A healthy change as a gateway to our neighborhood or afraid it sticks out in comparison to its neighbors?
