With recent criminal activity in the surrounding area, we want to make sure you know what to do if there’s ever an emergency.
Our friends in the Lower Haight have lately dealt with several crimes, many of which involved being robbed by gunpoint.
Just yesterday, we caught wind of this blog post that discussed a man who flashes passing busses on Hayes Street.
All of this made us think… if any of you experienced a crime, robbery or assault, would you know what to do?
Let’s talk about your options.
While 911 is the number to call during an emergency, you have a few non-emergency options. Residents should call 311 and businesses should dial 553-0123.
If you notice graffiti or tagging, take a picture if you can and report it to the Department of Public Works (DPW) at 311 or on their website.
When it comes to interactions with the someone who’s homeless, one message the HVNA Public Safety Committee is trying to get out is that “being homeless is not a crime.” But if someone continues to sleep in your doorway or creates an encampment, you can also reach out to 311 or 553-0123.
Other resources include…
-SFPD Anonymous Tip Line: 614-3451 or 614-3425
-City Attorney (for public complaints): 554-3977
-Recology (to report issues with trash pickup or raiding of cans): 330-1300
For questions about the Safety Committee, you can reach out to Bob at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And if you know of any other valuable resources available, share with us and we’ll be sure to include them.
